Unrest in the Big Easy

Still more distressing news from New Orleans.  I’ve had to pull myself away from Daily Kos just to get my work done.  It’s becoming more and more apparent that the Bush Administration and it’s Republican lemmings are completely out of it.   Of course, Baby Bush himself seems more concerned with the oil supply than the plight of humanity. At least that would be consistent with every other decision he’s made, including the war in Iraq. And now it comes out that he specifically cut funding for the levee program in New Orleans and retracted regulations enacted for protection of Louisiana wetlands enacted by the Clinton Administration.

All other top advisors are coming off as completely ignorant of the facts, even days after the disaster struck.  From all reports, Dick Cheney is STILL on vacation at his ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Given his leadership so far, maybe he should stay there. Heaven help us.

NOAA has released some high-resolution satellite imagery of the hurricane damage.  Google has developed several image overlays from these that can be viewed in Google Earth.  You can toggle the overlays on and off to get a before/after effect.

If you have Google Earth already installed, you can click on Open with and select Google Earth, or just save the file and double-click on it later.  Each images is fairly large, so Google recommends downloading/adding them one at a time.
