Jimasaurus Rex

Miracle of miracles.  The Greenville News endorsed Democrat candidate Jim Rex for Superintendent of Education, not Karen Floyd.  This is one case where I hope people listen.  Unfortunately, they also endorsed Sanford.  The thought of a Sanford-Floyd team is almost too hard to stomach.  A split between Democrat and Republican for those two spots would mean four years of stalemate and finger-pointing.  The best bet for educators is a Moore-Rex team.

This week’s Beat featured an article by Tammy Stokes, a local blogger from Spartanburg regarding Karen Floyd.  Here’s a choice quote…

Not once have I heard her say, “I will work together with educators to reform, to rebuild, to…”you get the picture. Not once. Instead, she has proposed ideas such as bringing in “diverse providers” to “fix” the problem schools….

…Instead of offering solutions to these problems, she attacks educators for not having the ability to overcome issues outside of their control. Floyd’s solution for these “problem” kids and “problem” schools? Bring in one of her ‘diverse providers’ to “manage” these kids into shape. Floyd apparently believes stronger discipline and “diverse providers” will fix the dropout rate.

To attack the people that have dedicated their lives to making a difference in the lives of SC children is disgusting…

Amen, Tammy!
