This morning our preparations began in earnest for our trip to the British Isles later this summer. First, there was passport renewal, expedited to make sure they get here before departure. The process seemed much simpler than when I got m first passport years ago.
Laura began looking online to make travel arrangements, and we both quickly decided we needed professional help – to arrange the travel, that is. We went to our local AAA agent, who, it turns out, is from London. We are actually going on an eight-day tour. There will be a day spent touring London itself, then a couple of days out to Stratford, Bath, and Stonehenge. There will be plenty of time for us to explore on our own, so we thought this might be the best solution for Laura’s first overseas trip.
Tomorrow marks the first annual Highland Games at Furman. This evening there was a parade downtown with all of the participating pipe bands. It seemed like just about everyone in Greenville turned out for the event. There was plaid everywhere.
It was loads of fun, but Laura declared that sitting on the curb looking upward wasn’t necessarily the best perspective for watching middle-aged (and older) men in kilts.
