The symbol of a river figures prominently in religious iconography, Crossing over Jordan, etc. The concept of baptism also figures strongly in this symbolism. Instead of going to church on this lovely Sunday, I decided to explore these symbols directly, with a paddle down the Green River.
Bob Donnan and I rendezvoused at the take out point, and ran our shuttle back to the put-in. I don’t know if it’s because of the stricter regulations on the rivers, or what, but there seemed to be fewer inner tubes on the river today. The camps and tubing places are still active, but there didn’t seem to be as many floaters.
We had a good run down the river. Water levels weren’t quite as high as I had hoped, but still decent. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take any photos. I tried to take a picture of a snake hanging over the river, and the battery on my camera died. Oh well, I guess it couldn’t an absolutely perfect trip, but it was a wonderful outing.
