I was almost arrested as a terrorist this morning. I was at the airport in the waiting area outside the security area waiting for Laura’s flight to get in. Since I had a few minutes, I pulled out my Palm Pilot and keyboard and started typing some notes for my tech meeting. I got up to let someone have my seat, and continued working using just the Palm without the keyboard. The next thing I know, I’m surrounded by three armed security guards, grilling me about why I was there, what flight was I waiting for, what time did it arrive, what airline, etc., etc. After they finally left me alone, a guy next to me asked, “What was that all about?” My reply was that I guess they didn’t like my Palm Pilot.
Later that afternoon one of my tech crew suggested that I sue because of “Geek profiling.” Laura’s flight did get in on time, but she was totally exhausted. I got more phone calls this evening – most from telelmarketers. I have to confess to being quite rude to several of them. Later in the evening, Steve came over with Lauren, and we shot pool, played air hockey, played foosball, and generally demonstrated the capabilities of the new game table.
