I’ve just taken part in a workshop as part of the Adventures of the American Mind program. This program is funded by a grant from the Library of Congress, and is meant to increase awareness of the American Memory materials that the LOC has placed online. These materials include historic photographs, maps, audio files with speeches and music, and other primary source material. I personnally was quite interested in the collections of sheet music. Available. The collection is quite extensive, however, the search capabilities and organizational structure could be improved.
The project I decided on was a replication of an activity I did with gifted students a long time ago. The original, called “PhotoSearch”, asked several questions about historic photos. The students only had the photos themselves to generate keyword research terms. I decided to call mine “PhotoSleuth”, and place it online with AAM materials. Clicking on the logo will take you there.
