Cinco de Mayo de Derby

Two excellent excuses for a party – Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo.  To honor this Mexican holiday, we made sushi and Mediterranean bites in phyllo dough for our contribution to Chris and Vicky’s party.

For this party, each person places a $5 bet on a horse to win.  The winner gets to select which charity receives the funds.  I selected Scat Daddy, and Laura selected Street Sense.

We enjoyed the pagentry and tradition of the Derby, as well as Chris’s excellent mint juleps.  Much to her surprise, Laura’s horse came from the back of the pack to win everything.  We’ll be donating the winnings to Habitat for Humanity.
