Sometime back I had a little problem. I had a whole bunch of computers to get rid of. Fortunately, I had another district that wanted to buy them, so the problem was solved. In the past, we have held auctions for the general public, or online sales for our students and employees. We’ve never had a problem, and everything has gone smoothly.
Courtesy of Engadget, comes this tale of a school district in Virginia which failedd to take into account the demand for old computers. Specifically, about 1000 four year-old iBooks to be sold for $50. Seems nearly 12,000 showed up to buy the computers, and rioted when it became clear that they might not get one. Sometimes I’m VERY thankful I work in a small district.
