So long, Scotty

James Doohan, who played Scotty in the original Star Trek series passed away this morning.  Scotty set the stage for all the chief engineers on Star Fleet ships to follow.  Guess now he can beam the rest of us up.

Oddly enough, James Doohan was the only star of the series I have met in person.  Come to think of it, he’s the only TV star I’ve ever met in person.  He was making an appearance at the old Greenville Mall many eons ago.  Must have been a low point in his career.
