I got the following e-mail today…
I’m thinking about leaving Xxxxxxxxx School District. Do any of you have positions available using the xxxxxx software system?
If you haven’t guessed, this was sent to a state-wide listserv. It’s also tantamount to professional suicide. I don’t think I would have sent something like this out unless I were absolutely sure I would be leaving xxxxxx School District.
Who knows? It could be that the person in question is absolutely fabulous, but in the midst of a divorce, or that there are other external factors making it necessary for them to leave. However, that information wasn’t provided in the e-mail. We (and her potential employers) are only left with the impression that they are not happy, and just want out. I certainly wouldn’t recommend anything on the basis of this e-mail.
