Photography Songs

Music, Photography

For every situation in life there exists at least one song or bastardization thereof.

Taylor’s Axiom

I’ve posted them before. As a musician, those are words I’ve tried to live by. As a hobbyist, I like to find songs that fit my current passion. I’ve collected river songs for when I’m kayaking, songs about maps and travel for when I’m geocaching, and now I need some good photography songs to load up my iPod.

The obvious ones to pop into my mind are "Kodachrome" by Simon & Garfunkel, "Photographs and Memories" by Jim Croce, and "Freezeframe" by J. Geils Band. I guess "Angel is a Centerfold" by J. Geils would also fit.

I did a quick search of iTunes using the keywords "photograph" and "camera." The list was a bit intimidating. Some of them I recognized, and others I couldn’t place. Use the term "picture", and the search results get even broader. I tried several other photo-related terms – "black and white", "shades of gray", "portrait", "landscape", and "closeup". Heck, I even found songs matching the terms "tripod", "lens", "telephoto", "wide-angle" and "light meter". (That last one was a song called "Meter" from the Pleiadians on the album "Family of Light".) It seems that it’s much easier to write a song about images than it is to write about kayaking or geocaching. I’ve found more than enough music with just this terms to fill a huge playlist. I’ll have to see when I come up with for a reasonable list.
