John Pennekamp State Park

The first part of the day was spent lazing around the pool (see previous post.)  After a couple of hours, we were in need of some AC, so we decided to do some shopping.  We stopped at a place which looked like a tourist trap, but turned out to have some really nice and unique items.

Toward afternoon, we decided to take the glass-bottomed boat tour at John PenneKamp State Park.  Pennekamp also includes a coral reef a couple of miles off-shore, and is a diver’s dream.  A tour began at 3:00, and we decided it would be perfect.

The conditions were perfect.  The seas were fairly calm, and we were able to see quite a bit through the catamaran’s glass windows.  Both on the way out to the reef and on the way back the boat hit a pretty good speed.  It was actually refreshing being out on deck.

We cleaned up, and had dinner at a Thai place that seemed to attract mostly locals – of the weird variety.  We heard about someone’s bar fight of the night before, and someone else’s attempt to have the place make Duck Almandine, even though it’s not on the menu.  Still, the food was pretty good.

Back at the hotel, it was another spectacular sunset.
