Alleluia!
Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed!
…and thus the familiar Easter refrain brought to a close my six-month tenure at Fourth Presbyterian. It was a bit weird, and has been highly awkward. Several times over the last couple of weeks there have been announcements about the new director that has been hired, but never any public mention of my name. Even today, there was an announcement about about welcoming the new guy, but nary a word that this was my last Sunday. To top it off, neither minister said a word to me today. I guess I should have taken it as a clue that even after visiting there for TWO YEARS the minister acted as if he had never met me when I first took over. So be it. I’m done with them.
Thus endeth the rant.
I don’t harbor the same ill-will toward the choir, though. They are a wonderful group of people, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them. They responded very well to my direction, which was often confused and mis-guided. So I leave with mixed emotions – one, glad to be away from the madness that is sure to insue as the church decides which musical direction it wants to take, but sad to be leaving something I so love doing.
On a lighter note, the "Rev. Brenden Powell Smith" has re-created many familiar Bible stories using Legos on a site called The Brick Testament. What he has done here is truly amazing. The following images are taken from the Life of Jesus series…
