This week began PACT testing in South Carolina. This is the high-stakes testing that every child in grades 3-8 have to look forward to because of NCLB. Except…
There was no testing today. It’s Confederate Memorial Day in South Carolina, so all state offices are closed, including the State Department of Education. And if the State Dept. is closed, we’re not supposed to be testing.
To make matters worse, the State Dept’s website has been on the fritz since last week. Today there was the message "no website configured at this address." We’ve got folks that need to do data entry via their website, but of course, there’s no one down there to complain to or to get things fixed.
So, kiddos, enjoy your day away from testing.
