I have enjoyed all of your Ghost Town podcasts. Many of them I was unfamiliar with. But Merritsville is one that I have known about for many years. I have been rambling over the Dark Corner for decades, and have been places where I shouldn’t have been and seen things that few people have seen. I have been to the ________ and the ____________ and walked along the entire ____________ . I can’t say it or I might get in trouble 😉 The remaining stone structures are still amazing to see, and with the help of old USGS maps, I located many ruins of homesteads with stone chimneys still standing, and even a few graves I have stumbled across. One small correction: The old Merritsville bridge that has been relocated to Cleveland Park is not the small one that the Swamp Rabbit Trail runs across. It is about 50 yards away from that bridge, is larger, and few people ever walk across it or even notice it. It had some interesting mineral stalactities growing from it last time I was there. One suggestion for a ghost town if you aren’t already planning to do it: the community of Newell, just a few blocks away from Wren High School. It sits on land that has been in a prominent local family for generations, and they would probably let you visit and get a closer look at the buildings that remain.
