As the Vatican was pronouncing Habemus papam, we were exclaming Habenus tecto. We have a roof!
It’s amazing what was accomplished in just a few days. Last Friday they took down all but one wall of the room that received the most damage. That one wall stood sad and alone, almost more depressing than when the tree actually hit it.

But, things were happening. This is that same view one week later.

There’s still much to be done. Even after the outside is complete there is so much interior work that our contractor says that it will take 4-5 months for completion. Our kitchen is stripped bare.

We had them remove the wall between the kitchen and dinette so that we could open up the space. We get new cabinets and are taking the opportunity to remodel.
The dining room and living room have no ceiling, opening up to the rafters. There’s no flooring in the basement, and repairs are needed for the plaster in most rooms.

It would be great if this were finished quickly, but I’m not holding my breath.
