…but ugly goes clear through to the bone.
Or so it has been said. And therefore I decide to go for the easy part and fix the skin of this site. It’s probably still hideous according to most web experts, and it’s not W3C compliant, nor does it have RSS or XML feeds. I just got tired of the gray monotony. It’s still gray, but it now has crinkly edges. We’ll see how long that lasts.
In the course of trying to improve my site, I did come across some good resources. One the best is 9rules.com. It’s actually a collection of nine websites run by the same guy. Most are discussions of web design with CSS. He has links to some rather outstanding sites. One of the coolest is biddlebugs.com – some guy’s family website. I love the color scheme.
The coolest site by far is the CSS Zen Garden project. Designers are challenged to come up with a layout for the text in the Zen site. The challenge is that they cannot change the HTML code, only the associated style sheet. It is truly astounding what these folks have done.
…and back to my little site. I can’t even seem to get a decent drop shadow to work, much less a coherent design theme. Whine, whine, whine, whine, whine. I’ll tweak it a bit more when I get around to it.
