Vacation’s over, and it’s back to work. Even with 90 degree heat and humidity, it seems like fall is upon us. I think it’s the knowledge that school is only two weeks away. The past two work days have let me know that I’ve got ‘way too much to do before that time gets here!
As bad as our Friday in Williamsburg was, Saturday was much better. We crossed the York River into Gloucester, and had an excellent lunch at a place calle the River Inn. A slow tour through several small towns followed, avoiding any interstate, with the rest of the afternoon spent by the hotel pool. Dinner was at the Palmers, with excellent crab cakes in their magnificent house. I must find a recipe for crab cakes.
The last play, “Two Gentleman of Verona”, was a hit. The same actor was missing, but the substitute did an outstanding job. I sometimes forget how bawdy (and fun) Shakespeare can be. We started the drive back home through the country. Highway 5 from Williamsburg is quite scenic, passing by several large, historic plantations. Unfortunately, we did eventually have to hit the interstate, but soon arrived back home to find cats, furniture, and house generally intact.
