Recipes

This is a recipe that we reverse-engineered for our Super Bowl Party at Paul’s.  It was served to us at Bohemian Cafe on Friday night as an appetizer, and we decided that we could re-create it. We were served this with bruschetta, which was wonderful. The Stuff: 2 cups cherry tomatoes 2 cups pitted calamato … Read More “Tomato Olive – something” »

Yep, that’s OOBs – not OOPS!, or worse yet, BOOBS!. It stands for Out of Boundary, and is a photomanipulation technique that creates three-dimensional effect. A frame is created around part of the photo, then part of the image appears to break out of that frame. Creative use of a Gaussian Blur for shadow and … Read More “OOBs!” »

Delayed Math Skills

Rants, Things Overheard

The following is an amalgam of actual phone calls received at our district office this morning… We’re on a two hour delay, right?  What, exactly does that mean? Just add two hours to the start time.  If my child’s school starts at 7:45, do I bring him at 10:00 or at 9:45? 9:45  Well, what … Read More “Delayed Math Skills” »

Foggy Delay

Photography

I knew there would be fog. The temperatures were high enough for yesterday’s snow to sublime away, leaving a heavy mist in its place. We had a two-hour delay for school this morning, just on the off-chance that icy patches still remained. It was as good an opportunity as I was going to get for … Read More “Foggy Delay” »

After dealing with phone calls, I was wide awake early . Part of me wanted to watch the snow coming down (and possible get some long-exposure shots.)
