A surprisingly good breakfast for a Hampton Inn, and then we were off. We stopped by a garden googah place just outside of Georgetown, and found a wonderful selection of yard art. We just couldn’t leave without a concrete heron. Go figure.
We headed inland from Georgetown toward Sumter, across some of the most desolate stretches of SC I have seen. There wasn’t even an interesting river to cross. Not even worth describing here.
We got to Sumter and met my brother, Steve, right before lunch. His new church, Trinity Methodist, is HUGE. He gave us a tour, and I had to take a moment to play the pipe organ. It was amazing the money and resources available to that congregation. After lunch downtown, we completed our vacation with the exhausting drive back up I-26.
