Rockin’ the Christian World

Three days until the movie version of "The da Vinci Code" comes out, and I’m still trying to reread the book before it opens.  However, I can’t remember most of the plot, or at least I get confused because of all the similar books I’ve read recently.  Here’s a quick rundown…

  • The da Vinci Code, Dan Brown – A professor of symbology and Paris policewoman follow clues hidden in da Vinci’s works to uncover a secret protected by the Templars that will rock the foundations of Christendom.
  • Daughter of God, Lewis Perdue – An art historian and her husband follow clues to uncover a secret hidden by Hitler and discovered by the Templars that will rock the foundations of Christendom.
  • The Last Templar, Raymond Khoury – A archeologist and FBI agent follow clues found in a Catholic museum piece to uncover a secret protected by the Templars that will rock the foundations of Christendom.
  • The Templar Legacy, Steve Berry – A retired-Justice-Department-Agent-turned-antique-book-dealer and his former boss follow clues found in an old travel book and a church in France to uncover a secret protected by the Templars that will rock the foundations of Christendom.

Gee, do I detect a pattern here?  Seems I’m not alone, as witnessed by this article by Kerry Lengel.  Kerry lists a few more books than I have here.  However, not all follow the exact same plot as closely as these four.

Odd thing is, they were all sufficiently different to be enjoyable.   Knowing what the plot had to be, it was interesting to see how the various authors approached it.
