Links-to-links-to-links-to-links

If you’re like me, you get very VERY frustrated when you are looking for information, but all you find are pages of links that take you to even more pages of links – a circular bit of web madness insues.  That’s why I feel a bit concerned that my links page has seemed to take on a life of its own.  Therefore, I’ve made some changes, and feel I should establish some ground rules.

First, the changes.  The Links page was getting a bit unweildy.  With the number of links I had added, scrolling was becoming an issue, especially if you were looking for a particular subject area.  So, I added another submenu to the left which shows the categories for my links and the number of links under each category.  Also, if the number of links for any give subject area is greater than ten, an entirely new page is spawned, complete with its own detailed description.  For an example, look at the GPS Links section.

Oh joy, more of my ramblings to wade through!

Now the ground rules.  I’ll place a link on the Links section only for sites that have some permanence.  I’ll review this regularly and weed out any broken links.  Weird, fleeting little things, such as blog entries or news items, or things that are of temporary interest will only be referenced in my articles, and I won’t bother policing those links.

That being said, I hope that some since of actual content can be maintained on the site, and it doesn’t degenerate into wanton linkage.
