Herdklotz – Named by committee

So far, it’s been the kind of Thanksgiving I like – very few obligations and the ability to sleep late.  Even so, we’ve kept ourselves busy.

Yesterday we did a bit of geocaching, which took us to a new park in Greenville.  Herdklotz Park (which must have been named by committee, according to Anna) is located on the grounds of the old Tuberculosis Hospital.  The hospital burned down several years ago, and this new park has been constructed on the site.  It’s located on the back side of Piney Mountain, with stunning views of Greenville and the surrounding area in every direction.

After finding the cache in the park, we headed to Furman to check on the two caches I had placed there.  Then it was back home for the traditional turkey dinner.

Today we had lunch at Overlook Grill.  Seems just about everyone else in Greenville had the same idea.  Since everyone seemed to be downtown, we figured shopping wouldn’t be a problem.  However, Woodruff Road was the nightmare we had expected, so we were glad to only be travelling a small part of it.

Back home in the afternoon, Chip wanted to head back downtown.  We took their dog, Gracie to the new doggie park in Cleveland Park.  Gracie wasn’t too thrilled about running with the other pups, so we decided to head elsewhere.  Chip and Anna were very much interested in the new park we found yesterday, so we headed back to Herdklotz.  Turns out it’s also an excellent place to view a sunset.

Evening from Herdklotz
