Friday Freaks – A Collection of Weirdos

Weirdness

In my RSS reader I’ve got a category called “Weirdness.” I’ve noticed a particular genre of website that I’ve been adding to that category lately. These blogs consist of single humorous image per post, usually associated with a specific theme. I think one of the first of these was the LOLCats website (which I could never figure out. The rest cover some strange, some arcane topics. Most of these are family-friendly, but there is the potential for offensive material. Here’s a quick run-down…

Awkward Family Photos

As the name implies, these are photos that will embarrass kids and grandkids for generations to come. There is often a pithy analysis of the various poses.

Fail Blog

These are classic photos of failure – signs that weren’t printed correctly, things that weren’t done quite right, etc. The Fail Blog does have some video clips that often feature people falling down.

Some of the images on the FAIL blog can be a little more offensive.

There. I fixed it.

For those that refuse to fail, there is the “There. I fixed it” blog. These are images of “epic kludges”, many of which don’t exactly look safe.

Lovely Listings

This website specializes in odd findings in real estate listings. I mean, really? Who could resist such wonderful furniture in a house like this?

And finally…

People of Walmart

This website features images of the strange denizens of Walmart. Some of the photos have drawn criticism as being elitist and unduly critical of the poor. But, there are still some real classics here, such as this woman’s choice of attire…

I’m sure that’s not offensive to anyone. Yeah. Right.

Most of the websites depend upon contributions to their sites. Some just go to show that some people have far too much time on their hands.
