I noticed the flags at half-mast as I drove by one of my schools, and I remembered.  It was also Tuesday six years ago.  We were gathering for our regular staff meeting, as we were today.  Our meeting was interrupted with the news of the attack on the towers.  Today we took a moment to reflect on that day.

As lunch I continued to read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.  I was almost to the end of the book, and had just come to the section about the September 11 attacks.  I got a slight chill as the significance of the date and the time of my reading coincided.
