Technology Black Out Day

Just in case you missed it, today is…

I guess if you are reading this on April 20, you don’t plan to participate.  I’m guessing by now that you’ve figured out that I’m not participating because I posted this message today.

I’m not sure that a Blackout is the way to emphasize the importance of technology, especially in a school setting, but the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) seems to think so.  I would rather put a positive spin on it, emphasizing how technology has improved classroom teaching.  This smacks of “I’ll take my ball and go home, then see how much fun you have.”

Oddly enough, we were almost unwilling participants.  Somehow our data circuits shut down for about 20 minutes this morning, completely disrupting our WAN.  Never mind a blackout, just shut down minor portions of a system and people start complaining.
