Parties and Frisbee in the Dark

Every day from Last Saturday, December 1, through next Saturday, December 15, my schedule has been incredibly structured.  Every evening I’ve got something going on, whether it be a rehearsal, concert, class, or holiday dinner.  The holidays are always busy, but this year seems particularly crazy.  I’ve even scaled back, without a church of my own for which to plan music.

This weekend many of those engagements have been with folks from Furman.  Friday’s party actually turned out to be a blast.  It was to celebrate to completion of a successful chemistry conference in Greenville, and the event was catered by Casbah in Greenville.  The food was fantastic, and the company was quite agreeable.

Since this party was at Tim and Nena’s estate up above Traveler’s Rest, it had to include Frisbee in the Dark.  Tim actually grooms a bit of his land just for this purpose.  We take various lighted or glowing disks and throw them at each other for hours at a time.  We had a couple of newbies with us this time, and they jumped in head first.  Of course, there are hazards associated with throwing disks in the dark, but as Brian put it, “You’re never really alive until parts of you fell dead.”
