Pyramids of Giza in Google Earth

Geocaching and Maps

For some strange reason this website has gotten several hits from Google with the search terms "Google Earth" and "Pyramids."  I’m assuming that folks are looking for the latitude and longitude of the Great Pyramids in Google Earth.  Well, here’s how you do it… First open Google Earth, then double-click on the Sight-Seeing folder under … Read More “Pyramids of Giza in Google Earth” »

Big Shoes

Miscellaneous, Music

Last night I officially met the Fourth Presbyterian choir and had my first rehearsal with them. I don’t start until October 9, but the Wednesday before that is supposed to be a celebration of the tenure of Dr. Kyser, and it would have been awkward for me to follow that with a rehearsal.

Never could get the hang of Thursdays

Music

Came up with a couple of good titles for Country and Western songs today..  "It’s Just Thursday and I need it to be Friday Night" "Your Love’s a Tornado and My Heart’s a Mobile Home" …although I can’t really claim that second one.  Of course, with brilliant titles like these, I just had to do … Read More “Never could get the hang of Thursdays” »

Equinox, Schmequinox

Miscellaneous

Fall officially arrived last week.  You couldn’t tell it from the climate around here.  Sure, the leaves are falling, but think it’s a case of drought-induced panic rather than seasonal instinct.  Over the weekend the temps hit the mid-90’s, which has got to be a record for upstate South Carolina.  So here we are at … Read More “Equinox, Schmequinox” »

Meat-N-3.2

Restaurants

This is going to be my final meat-n-three adventure for awhile.  Or, at least, until my constitution recovers and I shed a few pounds.  Today I didn’t feel like going alone, so I drafted my office mate, Rick, to go to Bill’s Place for lunch.  It’s been nearly five years since either of us had … Read More “Meat-N-3.2” »

What a motto. At least it’s better than some of the ones that got put up when I used to work here.

First Scotty, then Gilligan, now Agent Maxwell Smart. Don Adams passed away at Cedars Sinai hospital at age 82.  Seems all the actors from my childhood are fading away.

Meat-N-3.1

Restaurants

This morning’s Greenville Journal had an article almost exactly like the one I wrote a couple of days ago about small Meat-N-Three places.  The GJ did a much more in-depth, eloquent job than I did – I just wish they their website carried their articles online. While much of their competition died off through the … Read More “Meat-N-3.1” »

An Authority? Who? Me?

Miscellaneous

Last night as we were getting ready to go to dinner my cell phone rang. Mind you, not very many people have my cell number, and I like it that way. So I was very surprised when it turned out to be a reporter from the Greenville News. This was the same woman who plastered my picture on the front page several weeks ago. I thought this would once again be about the flooding in our neighborhood, but I was wrong.
