Fantastic Four – Fantastic Bore

Thank God I’m a target demographic. Otherwise I would never have these movie remakes of cartoons and shows I enjoyed in my youth, such as Spiderman, Batman, Bewitched, and now, the Fantastic Four.

More site discoveries

As I tweak the site, I’m discovering more and more cool things. There are some interesting e-mail possibilities (which I won’t mention because of Spam potential.) I also finally got the links page to work, although it won’t sort by category. Oh well – at least it’s a start. Speaking of links, I guess I’m … Read More “More site discoveries” »

Independence Day Reflections

Miscellaneous

I’ve been so busy getting this website converted that I seem to have bypassed the July 4th holiday. We did our usual routine – charred dead cow at my place with pyrotechnics at my sister’s. Despite the routine, this year seemed unusual for several reasons, some of them personal, some just weird observations, and some of them political.

Constantly Evolving

The site continues to evolve. I think I’ve settled on a theme that looks good and still accommodates everything I want on the site. I’m using FastTrack by Sadish Balasubramanian, so the website is going to look like thousands of others that use this theme. I like it because it’s easily customized, and it doesn’t … Read More “Constantly Evolving” »

Flooding Fairfield

Posted on July 2, 2005 By Tom No Comments on Flooding Fairfield
Local, Rants

I returned home from Philly to find that our neighborhood had flooded – again.  The torrential rains we had while I was away landed our street in the news just about every day.  It doesn’t take torrential rains.  Just a normal rain will produce a large pool at the end of our stream in which … Read More “Flooding Fairfield” »

More Philly Food

Travel

So many restarants, so little time, money, and room for expansion in my waistline.  Since I’ve already covered the NECC happenings for the day, I’ll just hit the highlights – the food. Lunch – the spicy aromas from Reading Terminal Market once again drew me in.  Today I ate at Profi’s Creperie, which was right … Read More “More Philly Food” »

David Thornburg vs Kathy Schrock

EdTech

Today was spent consorting with the big gurus of EdTech.  I first went to the keynote with Joel Barker.  My impression – he’s full of it.  Regardless of how much research and effort goes into a presentation, when they start making up words and base their presentation on those words, then they’ve lost me.  For … Read More “David Thornburg vs Kathy Schrock” »

More Vendor Observations

EdTech

I gave the vendors grief yesterday with my “Drinking Game.” Understand that this was all in satire, making fun of the contrived environment of a convention exhibition floor. We maintain many partnerships with local and national vendors, and without them our program could not exist. Vendor leech – note box of trinkets, and red hat … Read More “More Vendor Observations” »

Another Day @ NECC

Travel

OK, so I’ve run out of Philadelphia song titles.  Sure, I could have used Elton John’s Philadelphia Freedom, but that 1976 release to me marked the irreparable decline of his musicso, no, I won’t quote it. Another breakfast in business casual, and it was off to the convention center.  It figures that if I bought … Read More “Another Day @ NECC” »
