Welcome to the Working Week

It’s Thursday (insert Douglas Adams quote here.)

Even though this is a three-day work week for me, I feel like I’ve been working seven days straight. With the new summer schedule, I leave the house at 6:30 AM, and get back home usually at 6:00 PM.  Having Fridays off is nice, but it sure makes the rest of the days long.

Working until 5:00 isn’t so bad until they make you do it.

Thus was I quoted a couple of years ago when we first started this schedule for summer. That quote gets re-quote each time we start back on this schedule by someone in the office.  I think there might be more truth to it than at first glance.  Mentally, I’m in "going home" mode by about 3:45.  That effectively removes 1.25 hours from peak productivity.  I have no qualms about working long hours if I have something pending, or if I’m really interested in the task at hand.  I do have a problem with filling hours.  Fortunately that doesn’t happen often, and having to find something to do has never been a problem around here.  It comes at you from all angles.
