My nephew, the meme

Now Chip has something in common with Lonelygirl15 and the Star Wars Kid.  He’s on his way to becoming an Internet Meme.  Here’s how this happened…

Chip had won the bid for an xBox on eBay to continue his Linux modding madness.  The unit came with a few extras – packing material that included several dirty towels and one severely soiled pair of sweat pants.  Chip laid out the unique packing materials, took photos, then posted them to Flickr.  From there things got crazy.

The pictures accrued over 20k+ views.  The story was picked up by Digg.com, and eventually made it to Joystiq.com.

So, Chip, enjoy your 15 minutes and be sure to remember your uncle with all of the fame and fortune I’m sure will be coming your way.

UPDATE:  The story has now made it to BoingBoing.net.  I guess Fark will be next.
