Laura and I both had a three-day weekend, thanks to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Since we didn’t go anywhere for our anniversary, we decided to head out of town on a road trip. The destination she suggested nearly floored me — Myrtle Beach.
I’ve already expressed my opinions on MB, but Laura’s experience was limited to one visit when she first arrived in SC. She and Amy needed an ocean fix, and were told that MB was the place to be. Coming from California, it was quite a culture shock — even “beach music” had a different connotation. The experience was such that she has since steadfastly refused to think about going to MB.
We got away from Greenville right after lunch, and pulled into MB at about 4:30. It wasn’t too hard finding an oceanfront room in the middle of January. We had a moderately OK dinner in Murrells Inlet. The place I was after, Flos, was being remodelled, and wasn’t available. After a brief walk on the beach in dark drizzle, we turned in early.
