I’ve spent the past two Fridays sitting in doctors’ offices. Last week it was the top of my head. This week, it’s the bottom of my feet. From what we can determine, the rounds of antibiotics combined with other drugs I take have brought on an acute case of gout.
Gout – the word brings up the image of frumpy spoiled women lounging on couches. However, I never expected it to be this painful. I didn’t help matters by going bowling Thursday night with the Furman research students. That seems to have exacerbated the problem, and by Friday morning I couldn’t put any weight on the foot. I’m supposed to be in Atlanta next week for NECC, which involves LOTS of walking. At this point I was having second thoughts about going. I did get a prescription for a pair of crutches, but was able to save the expense and borrow Glynda’s.
Speaking of bowling, despite my foot I was able to bowl three strikes in a row. My performance went downhill from there.
One other note, these unexpected trips to the doctor have interupted my blogging. I have reviews for two new restaurants that I guess I’ll get posted when I get back from NECC.
