207.46.98.43, Who Are You?

Miscellaneous

OK, Confession time.  I collect data on visitors to my site.  I know your browser type, IP address, the web page you just came from, eye color, location of moles, etc., etc.  Don’t worry.  I haven’t got the time, inclination, nor capacity to spam anyone or use any of this information for nefarious purposes. The only data I’m getting are items that are broadcast by your browser every time you hit any site on the Internet.  I only gather this to see who in the world, apart from my brother, would bother with my tiny little site.

Usually, the hits that aren’t from my brother are from Google searches (with my hit probably being on page 100 out of thousands), or people who want my domain name.  There is one mystery, though.  Someone with IP address 207.46.98.43 has been hitting the site on a regular basis.  A Whois lookup shows the IP address to be from Microsoft, in Redmond Washington.  My guess is that it’s a webcrawler.  However, it could be someone at MS that has taken an interest in my pathetically normal life and mediocre writing skills.  Bill Gates, if that happens to be you, I’m ready for that large donation so I can retire early.

Hi! I just discovered this same (I assume) bot crawling around my little beauty blog.

Weird. Oh well, here’s to our “random connection”! 🙂
