FETC – Day 1, Part 2

EdTech, Travel

The third concurrent session with David Warlick was the one I had been looking forward to for today’s sessions.  His session was entitled "Harnessing the New Shape of Information."  With a title like that, I figured it HAD to draw upon David Weinberger’s concepts.  Weinberger’s keynote at NECC focused on the more theoretical aspects of the New Shape of Knowledge.  Warlick’s offered some more practical applications of blogs, wikis, and other Web20 technologies.  I liked his phrase "Personal Learning Network" to refer to the dynamic set of resources one uses on a regular basis for information.

My last session (that I attended) for the afternoon was on a very simple web editor called Web Blender.  This looked like an excellent way to get novice web designers up and running very quickly.  In this session I learned a new acronym – PICNIC: problem in chair, not in computer.
