Scenes from I-85

I decided to try a little experiment this morning.  I took my Nikon S1 and mounted it on a mini-tripod.  I then set the camera to "interval" mode so it would take a picture every thirty seconds, ensuring hands-free operation.  I made sure the flash was off, then set the camera on the dashboard of my car as I drove to work early this morning.

I was aiming for some interesting blur shots, and I certainly got them.  In this first shot I was just depressing the shutter release and placing the camera…

As things settled down, I got some better shots…

I particularly like these next two.  The first was as I was going under the highway signs near the airport.  The blur and the colors are quite dramatic.  In the second shot, a truck with panel lights was going over the overpass.

In these last shots, you see that the sky is getting bluer as the sun rises.  I found this odd since it was overcast and rainy, but apparently that’s the way my camera interpreted the light.  In the first shot, I was at the top of the exit ramp at Highway 290 (greenlight).  As I took the left turn, the camera slid to the other side of the dashboard and wedged against the window.  Hence the tilting.
