Northern Greenville

Over the holidays I’ve taken several trips out and about to find interesting photo subjects so I could use the new gear Santa brought me.  Unfortunately, what I’m finding is row after row of plastic-sided houses that look pretty much the same.  There is really nothing left of rural Greenville.  One gets tired of shooting Falls Park after awhile, and I was looking for something of the old Greenville.  I’m finding that I have to travel further and further out to escape the blandness.

On Christmas Eve I tried Lake Cunningham and found it closed.  I eventually wound up at Campbell’s Covered Bridge and was able to get a few shots…

The day before yesterday I was a bit more successful at the Lakes. I first took a few shots of the fishing dock at Lake Cunningham…

…then was able to ride over to Lake Robinson and shoot some pictures.  From the park, and using my new tripod, I took several images and stitched them together to create this panorama of the lake…

I was getting a bit of lens glare in the leftmost image, so I wasn’t able to blend it as well as the other shots.  In Photoshop I was able to compensate for differing exposures across the images.

Since this panorama was successful, I decided to try the same thing up at Herdklotz Park, with its sweeping vistas of Greenville.  Unfortunately, those vistas turned out to be cluttered with power lines, trees, and all manner of stuff.  About the only thing I could get a good shot of was the new condos on Lowndes Hill on Pelham Road.
