Just a word about where we’re staying. We picked the Moorepark Hotel because it was described as a “boutique hotel”, and was located near Laura’s family and had easy access to freeways. All of the places we wanted to visit were reachable.
The hotel itself is not spectacular. The exterior could just as easily be a Day’s Inn or Hampton Inn. However, inside there are some nice touches. We’re on the “club level” floor, which means that bowls of fresh fruit, granola bars, and other amenities are available. We get an “allotment” from the mini-bar, which means that we have had plenty of snacks for our day trips. A very nice breakfast bar is included with the room.
It’s apparent that this place caters to businessmen heading out to Silicon Valley. There seem to be lots of regulars, and they are greeted warmly by the hostess at breakfast. All-in-all, it’s a nice, friendly place, and a heck of a lot cheaper than if we had tried to stay in San Francisco proper.
