MegaMemories

Secure Digital CardThe additional memory cards I had ordered for my new Nikon CoolPix S1 just arrived.  I already had one 256 MB Secure Digital card, and I ordered two 1 GB Multimedia Cards.  If I’m to believe the little counter on the LCD screen, at normal 5.1 megapixel resolution, I can store nearly 200 images on the 256 MB card, and nearly 800 on the 1 GB cards.  That means I could conceivably shoot 1800 images before having to clear off the cards.  I’m sorry, but having grown up in an analog age, digital capacities still amaze me.

Now for the guilt – Kodak just announced plans to lay off thousands of workers due to the decrease in the demand for REAL film products.
