Fever!

Starting sometime Sunday I began running a fever of about 100 degrees. I knew something wasn’t quite right Sunday morning, and and possibly as early as Saturday night. I thought the scratchy throat was from yelling at the Furman game (which it may yet have been.) However, by Sunday night it was clear that I had come down with something.

This has been a strange ailment, whether it’s flu or not. The only symptoms have been fever and major headache. I’ve had no coughing, runny nose, or any of the other blight that tends to accompany colds. I’ve alternated between shivering when the fever is high to sweating when it’s low, and it can switch in a matter of minutes.

So now it is Wednesday and I’m on my third day out of work. Well, that’s not exactly true. Monday and Tuesday I was doing online training all day, just from home and not from my office. Today I’m really taking it easy – lots of sleep and nothing work-related. The fever has mostly subsided and there is only a lingering headache, but I’m not taking chances.

The problem is, I’m supposed to go kayaking with my fellow miscreants this Saturday. I’m the one who planned and put this expedition together, so it would be a shame to miss it. I’ve mentioned before that rivers have curative powers. I’m hoping that as Naaman was cured of leprosy in the waters of Jordan, a quick dip in the Enoree will have the same effect.(which it may yet have been.) However, by Sunday night it was clear that I had come down with something.

Hope you get to feeling better quickly Tom. Seems like you are on the better side of things now… you should make your trip onto the water!

I’ve had that happen too. Fever and no other symptoms. Usually ends within a day for me though. If you can’t make the trip we will leave something in the river in your honor.

    Get well! Rest up!

I’m not so sure I like the sound of that honorarium.
